A public library employee in Ripley, West Virginia, has been taken into custody following an investigation into a social media post that local authorities say went beyond protected expression. Officials stated that the matter is being handled as a public safety concern rather than a political issue, and the investigation was initiated after online content drew attention from law enforcement.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Morgan L. Morrow, 39, was charged with one count related to making a serious public threat. Investigators said the case began after a video and accompanying caption were shared online, which they believe suggested harm toward a former U.S. president. Authorities stated that the wording and context raised sufficient concern to warrant a formal investigation and subsequent charge.
