The former U.S. president used New Year’s Eve to launch a lengthy social media rant aimed at actor George Clooney and his wife, Amal, after reports confirmed the couple had been granted French citizenship.According to the BBC, the decision was published in France’s Journal Officiel, which lists official government decrees. French authorities said citizenship was awarded because the Clooneys “contribute, through their distinguished actions, to France’s international influence and cultural outreach.”
The couple currently live on their farm in Brignoles, southern France, which they purchased in 2021. In an October interview with Esquire, Clooney described the property as their primary home, saying the move was made with their children’s wellbeing in mind. Trump reacted angrily on Truth Social, criticizing the Clooneys and their eight-year-old twins for becoming dual U.S.-French citizens.
