The rural road was quiet beneath the gray afternoon sky.
Rain had recently passed through the green hills, leaving the asphalt wet and reflective. Pine trees covered the slopes, and only a few vehicles traveled through the peaceful countryside.
Then a driver noticed something lying near the edge of the road.
At first, it looked like a fallen branch.
But as he slowed down, he realized it was a massive red stag.
The animal was exhausted and unable to stand.
A heavy black tire had become trapped around its neck and behind its wide antlers.
Every attempt to move only made the situation more difficult.
The driver immediately pulled his white SUV safely onto the shoulder and turned on the hazard lights.
He knew the animal needed help, but he also understood that a frightened wild stag could be dangerous.
So he approached slowly.
The man put on protective gloves and stepped toward the stag with calm, open hands.

It had become wedged tightly behind the antlers, making it impossible to slide off normally.
The rescuer realized the tire would need to be opened carefully before it could be removed.
The man returned to his vehicle and gathered protective equipment.
He put on goggles, gloves, and hearing protection.
Before using the cutting tool, he positioned a strong metal shield between the rubber and the stag’s neck.
The barrier ensured that the blade would never come close to the animal.
Working only on the tire’s outer edge, he carefully began opening the thick rubber.
Small pieces fell onto the wet asphalt.
The stag remained safely supported while the rescuer worked with patience and complete concentration.
After the final section was opened, the rescuer immediately switched off the tool and placed it several feet away.
He returned to the stag and carefully pulled the two cut sides of the tire apart.
Slowly, the heavy rubber moved past the animal’s neck and antlers.
Then it came free.
The stag raised its head and shook its magnificent antlers.
The man stepped back, giving the animal plenty of room.
For the first time since the rescue began, the deer could move without the weight around its neck.
The stag rested for a moment before slowly pushing itself upright.
Its legs steadied beneath its body.
The rescuer watched quietly from beside the SUV, ready to help again if needed.
But the deer was strong.
It stepped onto the grassy shoulder and turned toward the misty forest.
Before leaving, the stag looked back at the man who had stopped to help.
Then it walked toward the trees and disappeared into the peaceful landscape.
