As I sat at my kitchen table that night, sipping tea and reflecting on the day’s events, I couldn’t shake the feeling of betrayal and concern for my son. The words Amanda had spoken echoed in my mind, and I couldn’t help but wonder what else she might be capable of. It was a mother’s instinct to protect her child, and I couldn’t ignore the red flags waving in front of me.

My sister Ruth had always been my confidante, so naturally, she was the first person I called. I needed someone who knew me well, who could help me think clearly and devise a plan. Ruth listened patiently as I recounted the events of the day, then said, “Helen, you’re right to be cautious. Let’s find out more about Amanda.”

The following morning, I met with Thomas Park, my attorney. I entrusted him with securing my business and estate, ensuring that my years of hard work would not be jeopardized by anyone outside the family. Thomas reassured me, “We’ll make sure everything is airtight, Helen. Your legacy is important.”
