Amber Glenn, representing Team USA at the Winter Olympics, has revealed she received a “scary amount of threats” after speaking openly about her beliefs ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games.The 26-year-old figure skater, who identifies as pansexual, was asked during a press conference how she felt about representing the LGBTQIA+ community. Glenn spoke about challenges facing the community and emphasized unity and resilience, saying difficult times have strengthened support between different groups. She also stressed that athletes cannot completely separate themselves from social issues, noting that politics affect everyday life.
Glenn said she intends to continue using her platform to encourage strength, positivity, and solidarity, despite criticism. Shortly after her comments, Glenn revealed on social media that she had received significant backlash and threats. She expressed disappointment at the response but said she was not surprised.
