
Kevin’s instincts kicked in immediately. The young woman was clearly in distress, and it didn’t take long for him to realize she was pregnant and likely in labor. Memories of an emergency first aid course he had taken years ago flooded back as he knelt by her side.
“Hey, it’s okay. I’m here to help,” Kevin assured her. The woman, between gasps of pain, nodded, her eyes wide with fear. Kevin turned to the cashier, who was pacing nervously. “Call for an ambulance, now!” he barked, his voice steady and commanding.
The cashier fumbled for his phone and nodded, stepping aside to make the call. Kevin focused on the woman, introducing himself. “What’s your name?” he asked gently.
“Sarah,” she whispered, her face contorted in pain.
