The Florida beach was crowded beneath the bright afternoon sun.
People walked along the shoreline.

But only a few feet away, something small was lying on the damp sand.
A tiny Golden Retriever puppy.
Its wet golden fur clung to its body.
A loose transparent plastic bag had become caught around it.
The puppy was weak.
Then another dog noticed.
An adult Golden Retriever wearing a blue collar stopped immediately.
He stared toward the puppy.

The Golden Retriever Tried to Get Someone’s Attention

Finally, Someone Followed Him
The Golden Retriever reached the woman.
He gently tugged at the edge of her beach bag.
She stopped.
The dog immediately released it and ran several steps away.
Then he looked back.
The woman appeared confused.

That’s when she looked farther down the beach.
She finally noticed the tiny puppy lying near the water.

She began following the dog.
They Raced Across the Sand
The Golden Retriever ran directly toward the puppy.

The loose plastic was still around the tiny dog’s body.
She carefully opened it with both hands.
First, she created more room around the puppy.

The Puppy Began Responding
