Warm afternoon sunlight covered the quiet neighborhood sidewalk.
A 72-year-old woman was walking beneath the trees with her Golden Retriever beside her.
Everything seemed peaceful.
Then a cyclist approached.
The 25-year-old man rode past on a blue bicycle.
As he reached the woman, his hand suddenly moved toward her dark-brown shoulder bag.
He grabbed it.
Seconds later, he was riding away.
The elderly woman reached toward the disappearing bag in shock.

The Dog Immediately Started Running
The cyclist pedaled quickly down the residential street.
The stolen bag hung from his bicycle’s handlebar.

But he refused to stop following.
The cyclist turned toward an open grassy section of the park.

The Golden Retriever positioned himself several feet ahead of the bicycle.
The cyclist hit the brakes.
He turned onto the soft grass.
Then he lost his balance and gently went down beside the bicycle.
The brown leather bag slipped from the handlebar.
It landed on the grass.
The cyclist quickly got back onto his feet.
Instead of trying to recover the bag, he ran down a distant park path.
The Retriever didn’t chase him.
His attention immediately shifted toward something more important.
The woman’s bag.
The Dog Picked Up What He Came For
The blue bicycle remained abandoned on the grass.
The cyclist was already disappearing into the distance.
The Golden Retriever walked toward the dark-brown bag.
He lowered his head.
Then he carefully picked up its strap with his mouth.

The dog turned around.
Then he began heading back toward the neighborhood.

The dog reached her and carefully placed it at her feet.
