The morning sun covered the countryside in warm golden light.
Along a quiet country road, everything seemed peaceful.
But beside a narrow concrete drainage channel, six tiny ducklings had a problem.
Their mother was already on the opposite grassy bank.
The ducklings were together, but none of them seemed willing to cross the shallow drain separating them from her.
Their mother called repeatedly.

Five ducklings were now safely gathered beside their mother.
But the final little bird hesitated.
The Golden Retriever stayed in place.
He turned his head slightly.
The last duckling finally stepped onto his back.
Slowly, it crossed.
One tiny step after another brought it closer to the opposite bank.
Then its feet touched the grass.
All six had made it.
The Family Was Together Again
The mother immediately gathered her ducklings close.
For the first time that morning, all six babies were safely on the same side of the drain.
The Golden Retriever climbed back onto the roadside.
He sat quietly and watched them.
Soon, the mother duck began walking toward the nearby field.
Six tiny yellow ducklings followed behind her in a neat line.
The dog didn’t follow.
He simply remained beside the drain as the little family disappeared into the grass.
