Another moment reportedly occurred when King Charles III greeted William upon arrival. The lip reader claimed the King said, “Oh, finally,” before greeting his son. William responded with a brief greeting but did not appear to continue the conversation. Outside the Abbey, a small group of anti-monarchy protesters could be heard shouting, which may have contributed to the tense atmosphere. Princess Anne was also reportedly heard advising her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, to ignore the protesters.

Despite the reported exchanges, the Commonwealth Day service continued as planned, celebrating the unity of 56 member nations. King Charles used the event to emphasize cooperation and shared values across the Commonwealth during what he described as challenging global times. Although the exact meaning behind William’s remarks remains uncertain, the moment has drawn renewed attention to the pressures facing the Royal Family amid ongoing public scrutiny.
