That moment inspired the couple to create Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a program that brought costumed visits and joy to hospitalized children. Though emotionally difficult, Andrea said seeing the children smile made it worthwhile. At one point, Andrea went into remission, but the cancer later returned and progressed to stage IV. Her health declined rapidly in October, and she spent her final weeks surrounded by family.

Andrea was just 26 when symptoms first appeared—pain initially mistaken for endometriosis. Her story highlights the rising risk of colorectal cancer in younger adults.
