
The door swung open, and all eyes shifted as a tall figure entered the room. It was William, Daniel’s estranged brother. Daniel and Ava exchanged glances of shock and confusion, while murmurs rippled through the attendees.
William walked with a composed, steady gait, his face revealing nothing but calm resolve. He took his place beside me, and there was an unexpected comfort in his presence. We had met several times over the years and I had found a confidant in him, someone who had seen through the facade long before I did.
