As I lifted the blanket and prepared to settle in for what was supposed to be a restful night, I found myself trembling with uncertainty. What lay beneath the layers of our new relationship? My mind wandered, replaying the events that led me here.

My youth had been filled with passionate romances that burned brightly but quickly fizzled out. I had always chased perfection, hoping to find the fairy tale love I read about in books and watched in movies. But reality was different. The men I chose were often unreliable, and with each breakup, my heart grew more guarded.
