As the bear disappeared into the shadowy depths of the forest, I became acutely aware of my surroundings again. The hum of the highway, the rush of the cars, the wind rustling through the trees — it all came back into focus. I stood there for a few more moments, processing what had just happened, before finally walking back to my car.
The drive home felt surreal, my mind replaying the encounter over and over. I thought about the fragility of life, the unexpected connections we sometimes make, and the responsibilities we have to the creatures who share this planet with us. I realized that this experience, as simple and brief as it was, had changed something within me.
